Becky Ames has already begun her work as the new mayor of Beaumont. She's quite remarkable. She already has her first 120 days as mayor planned out.

We don't even know what we are having for dinner.

A phone call or email with Beaumontbuzz might look something like this: "Hi, Becky, this is Beaumontbuzz.com. Congratulations on your victory! Can we ask you a few questions?" (We get right down to it. Nevermind that she's got work to do!)

What’s the first thing you did/will do to celebrate your win?

I'm not  sure yet as I haven't had a chance to think about it!!! Trying to catch up!! We probably will go out for a very nice dinner alone and will take a long weekend out of town in the near future. Several of my friends are doing celebration gatherings for me...they are great!!

Who is the first person you called to announce yourself as mayor? Most of my close friends and supporters were with me on election night so no need to call! Although, I did speak with my father who is out of town.

What’s the one thing you HAVE to have in your office and why?

I have many and enjoy all of my photos (there are loads of them in my office). My favorite is a photo of my husband and I in the Carribean...and of course my photos of Johnny Chihuahua!

Have you spoken with your opponents

and what did they say?

I haven't heard from my opponents.

Do you know how many man hours went into your campaign? How many volunteers did you have to work the campaign? Countless hours and numerous volunteers whom I appreciate very much.

Did you learn any profound lessons during the campaign? I was overwhelmed by the desire of people to become involved and to help without asking anything in return...people I didn't even know which was enlightening.

Learn anything new about yourself? I have more stamina than I ever realized!

Becky Ames will spend the next two years serving our city as mayor in hopes to make "a better Beaumont." Becky plans to bring economic growth, as well as carry out many of the plans that City Council already has in the works. Congratulations, Becky!
