FREE Family Arts Day
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2
“Art Guise with the Art Guys”
Held in conjunction with Beaumont Mardi Gras and
AMSET’s exhibition of The Art Guys: Cloud Cuckoo Land
Fitting right in with Mardi Gras festivities, crazy and unusual ideas are the theme of the day at the Art Museum of Southeast Texas’ Family Arts Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2. As always, the event is FREE and open to the public.
Southeast Texans young and old are invited to let their imaginations run wild with the hands-on art activities reflecting the artwork of The Art Guys, the Houston artist team of Michael Galbreth and Jack Massing, whose extraordinary ideas are the subject of the exhibition The Art Guys: Cloud Cuckoo Land, on view Feb. 2 through April 6.
Appropriately named “Art Guise with the Art Guys,” this Family Arts Day will include a variety of fun and exciting activities and entertainment celebrating Mardi Gras. Art activities scheduled for the day include making sculptures with unique materials, creating masks, designing necklaces and much more.
“At the Art Museum, we always encourage creativity and that all ideas are possible, but this Family Arts Day will take that to another level with our activities inspired by the amazing artwork of The Art Guys,” said AMSET Curator of Education Sandi Laurette. “Their unique approach to creating art fits so perfectly with the Mardi Gras celebration. Families don’t want to miss this lively event.”
This Family Arts Day is being held in conjunction with Beaumont Mardi Gras, which features parades, a carnival, live music, food vendors and more throughout the downtown area on Feb. 2.
