Free Shopping With A Little Swapping

Did you know that women wear 20 percent of their clothing 80 percent of the time? Too many items are sitting in closets with tags still on them. Many shirts were purchased once upon a time because they were on sale. Some shorts are held onto in hopes that they’ll be fit into again someday. These unworn items are not making any money just hanging in the closet, so purge and recycle them on to someone else.

The beaumontbuzz.com Clothing Swap is being hosted at The Barking Dog as a special event of our not-so-exclusive club called “Green Girls.” The Green Girls is a women’s only club that meets every month to educate women on healthy living options in Southeast Texas. This event comes with a focus on being mindful of “closet waste,” items that that we throw away our money on but never use. Times are tough on the wallet these days, and this event gives women the opportunity to mingle, save a buck and refresh their wardrobe all at the same time.

How does it work? Women can bring any item that can be worn (shoes, purses, jewelry, dresses, belts, etc.) for the swap. Dresses & shirts need to be on hangers. All clothing needs to be pre-sorted by size and style and must be clean and in good shape. The key here is to bring clothing worth swapping! Swappers will be able to swap as many items as they bring in. Swap set up will be from 6- 6:30 p.m. Shopping will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. Door prizes, coffee and music will be offered all night.

In addition to the clothing swap, makeup artist Grace Mathis will be on hand for cosmetic consultations. Women can bring their makeup bags and Grace will help them determine what items are appropriate and what should go. Hairstylist Brooke Ward of Studio 77 will also be available for hair consultations.

As if that's not enough, Melanie Wright of Shade Clothing (www.shadeclothing.com) will be on hand to assist with making your outfits complete. Shade Clothing is a company that creates fashion with modesty in mind. Many of their styles are created to go underneath today's fashion. Shirts are longer and have higher necklines (but not too high) to keep all the right things covered up! Shade is purchased by ordering with Melanie.
