Happy 1st Birthday, Che'rie!

It’s hard to believe it’s been a year already since Che’rie first opened her doors. My, how they grow so fast.

Che’rie, a chic girl’s boutique in Beaumont, is owned by Beaumont mom Ashley Tevis and her husband Scott Tevis. In Ashley's pre-Che’rie life, she worked as a teacher for BISD. The Che’rie story begins when Ashley and her Scott had their first child, Taylor. After Taylor was born, Ashley became ill, yet doctors could not explain her ailments. She traveled from Texas to Florida looking for an answer. This medical journey gave Ashley a little time to do some shopping in children’s boutiques where she discovered many children’s products that weren’t available in Beaumont. The traveling time also gave her the opportunity to spend most of her time with her daughter.

As Taylor grew, Ashley began to sell her daughter's old clothes that no longer fit her to help pay for medical bills. In doing this she was able to interact with other mothers; she formed relationships with these women and became very passionate about what she was doing. It was then that she threw herself into the project of opening a children’s store to allow herself more time with her daughter, continuous interaction with other mothers and to keep her mind off of being sick. The more she worked and focused on her store the better she felt and it put her illness on the backburner. Today, with her store as her motivation, she feels healthy and happy.

We love Che’rie for her unique style. One foot in the door makes a girl glad to be a girl! Some of the most popular products (and Ashley’s personal favorites!) are:

  • Kaiya Eve Pettiskirts
  • Spoiled Little Mama diaper bags & clothes
  • Greggy Girl
  • Mooshu trainers
  • Lelli Kelly
  • Little Lovelies Couture
  • Juicy Couture
  • Biscotti
  • Cheer Chics and Dance Dolls products

If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind gift, Che’rie custom creations include Birth Banners (a refreshing take on the door wreath) and hair bows (bring in or purchase an outfit and have one made to match).

What’s in the name? Che'rie means "Darling" in French. While Ashley and Scott were at their first market, they were contemplating a name. Despite the name brainstorming sessions, they couldn’t agree on the same name. All afternoon and night Ashley kept humming the song "My Che'rie Amoure..." by Stevie Wonder. The song- and name- stuck. After a trusty 3 am Google search discovered that the word “Che’rie” means “darling” in French, she knew it was the perfect fit. After all, don’t we all think our children qualify as “darling”?

Take note: 1 year anniversary sale with storewide savings is September 22- 27!
