Geaux for the Gold- Cajun Style

The Art Museum of Southeast Texas’ (AMSET) most popular and entertaining fund-raising event is getting a little added lagniappe this year, mon cher. On Thursday, March 18, Southeast Texans are invited to Geaux for the Gold – Cajun Style for a chance to win $10,000 in 2010! AMSET is spicing up this 15th annual party and reverse drawing that gives three lucky ticket-holders a chance to win unbelievable prizes in gold.

For the ticket cost of $100, guests receive admission, a delicious Cajun-style dinner and cocktails for two along with one entry into the most exciting drawing in town. Geaux for the Gold is a reverse drawing, meaning that the last three ticket stubs drawn from the hopper are the winners of:
      3rd Place  $1,000 in Gold
      2nd Place  $1,500 in Gold
      1st Place  $10,000 in Gold

“This event represents a very exciting opportunity for someone to instantly turn a $100 investment into $10,000 in gold coins,” said AMSET Executive Director Lynn Castle. “Most importantly, this event raises funds to benefit the museum’s exhibitions and educational programs.”

Geaux for the Gold 2010 is co-chaired by Linda Foutz and Carla Allen. Gold coins for the evening will be provided for display by First Fidelity Reserve. Dinner will be provided by Two Magnolias.

Only 500 tickets will be sold for the event; advance purchase is recommended. To purchase tickets, go to www.amset.org or call (409) 832-3432.

Valentine Survivors Celebration hosted by Gift of Life

Who:              The Julie Rogers “Gift of Life” Program
What:            Will honor nearly 150 breast and prostate cancer survivors from Southeast Texas during its annual Valentine Survivors Celebration, generously sponsored by TOTAL Port Arthur Refinery.
In conjunction with the event, the “Gift of Life” will host a mobile mammography van site, also sponsored by TOTAL, from 8:30am to 3:30pm, outside of Dillard’s at Parkdale Mall. Nearly 35 medically underserved Southeast Texas women have been scheduled to receive free mammograms on the UTMB van, with clinical breast exams being provided inside Dillard’s.
When:            Thursday, February 11, 2010
                        10:00am to 11:30am
Where:           Parkdale Mall Garden Court
                         6155 Eastex Freeway, Beaumont
Why:

The event will recognize the strength and courage of those who have fought valiantly in the battle against cancer. In 2009, 11 people were diagnosed with breast or prostate cancer following free “Gift of Life” screenings, seven of whom were provided access to treatment during the year and four who are scheduled to receive treatment in 2010. Since the program’s inception, nearly 150 men and women have been impacted after receiving cancer diagnoses through “Gift of Life” screenings.
To find out if you qualify for a free “Gift of Life” mammogram, please call the program’s mammogram hotline at (409) 860-3369. For more information about Survivors Celebration, call the “Gift of Life” at (409) 833-3663 or toll-free (877)720-GIFT (4438).
