Takin' It Easy
When Karen and Wayne Ingwersen opened easys Tapas & Martinis in August 2003, they knew Beaumont needed a one-of-a-kind, intimate drinking and dining establishment where people could relax and enjoy themselves. Now, five years later, easys has become just that and much more. Southeast Texans are invited to join in the festivities of easys fifth anniversary Wednesday, Aug. 12, through Thursday, Aug. 17, for "5 days celebrating 5 years with 5 ways to take it easy."
• Wednesday, Aug. 13, 5-7 p.m.* – Invitation-only Media Party featuring music by Justin Pierce, hors d'oeuvres and cocktails.
• Thursday, Aug. 14, 5-7 p.m.* – Invitation-only VIP Party with music by Thomas Champagne and friends.
*easys will be closed to the public from 2-7 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday for the private parties. At 7 p.m., they will re-open to the general public.
• Friday, Aug. 15, will feature lunch specials from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. followed by an Open Party with specials on easys signature food and drinks from 5-9 p.m.
• Saturday, Aug. 16, the party continues with the Stone Cold Band from 9 p.m. until 1 a.m.
• Sunday, Aug. 17, brunch and bottomless mimosas from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The 5th anniversary extravaganza makes celebrating "5 times as easy" with prizes given away each day, lunch specials, awesome live music and a party like no other.
"easys has grown immensely over the last five years," said owner Karen Ingwersen. "But one thing we've kept the same is the intimate atmosphere and cozy couch nooks that people really enjoy, great food and drinks, and our knack for offering formal service in an informal way."
easys Tapas & Martinis opened in August 2003 in the building formerly home to several Beaumont families before being converted to a jewelry store and then the Old Town Café. Following damage from Hurricane Rita, they demolished the former Fig Vine building next door to make room for the new additions of an expanded bar area, porch and patio. easys still keeps the warm home atmosphere with the living room-like areas it is known and loved for.
About its unique place in the Southeast Texas community, Ingwersen also added, "easys is not a fast food restaurant or a spot to come and get in and out quickly for dinner. Everything is made from scratch here so it takes longer to prepare, but it truly is worth the wait. easys is a place to come and relax, stay for hours and enjoy yourself." She said that the idea of leisurely dining is completely different for our community, but is something Southeast Texans have come to embrace.
easys is located at 2325 Calder in Beaumont. For more information call (409) 832-2600 or visit www.easysonline.com.
