Birthday Parties for Kids

Like to plan? Get in on the fun! If you have a great idea, whether it’s in your dreams or has been tried & true, let us know! Submit your party planning tips & ideas to goodtimes@beaumontbuzz.com.

First birthday parties are a tough one to pull off. The birthday boy or girl really isn’t old enough to care what’s going on. The grandparents really just want to see the young guest of honor and eat cake. But, there’s so much pressure (self-given, of course!) to throw a “cute” party! What can you do? If your one-year old loves music, try having a musically themed party. Throw a “Rockin’ Birthday Bash!” Get those kiddies moving with a little rock, fifties or children’s songs. Supply your young guests with a stage filled with musical items for them to rock out with & ask all guests to come dressed in their best rock star gear for the pictures (yes, that means Mohawks!).

What: Rockin’ Birthday Bash (“Come join our birthday band at Sam’s First Rockin’ Birthday Bash!)
Where: Grandma’s pad
Party Favors: Star-shaped sunglasses & inexpensive music makers found at a party store
Set-up:

  • Music Stage (just paint some poster board as a backdrop & you’re done) filled with kid-friendly music instruments
  • Hang stars with the individual guest’s names on it from a light fixture or the ceiling
  • Hang inflatable guitars and pianos from the ceiling as part of a photo backdrop. This is tricky because little ones are short & curious!
  • Go all out: roll out red carpet to the front door and have “paparazzi” taking photos as guests arrive

RSVP: Sam’s Managers (a.k.a parents!) at 409.888.2222
