A Girls Getaway in Galveston

When we asked local residents if they knew whether or not anything was open in Galveston, we couldn't get any answers! Seems as though alot of you have yet to venture over there for the sunshine season. So, in true beaumontbuzz fashion, if we don't have the answer, we go find it! This past weekend, we took part in a Girls Getaway to Galveston.

We marveled at how much Galveston is IN BUSINESS! Just about everything on The Strand is open. Restaurants are serving and retailers are selling. The beach itself was packed- not as much as expected for a holiday weekend, but packed nonetheless.

Our personal weekend started off Friday night with dinner at Willy G's (seafood). S Saturday included breakfast at the Sunflower Bakery (the Belgium Waffles with Fresh Fruit will send you straight to Heaven!), shopping The Strand, lunch at The Spot, and a wine tasting at Bacchus . Great shopping at Big House Antiques, Lafitte's Boat, Strand Brass, ScentSations, and tola.

One unique aspect to our weekend is our craftiest friend, Jaime, organized the creation of plaster crosses for us to decorate with seashells found on the beach. We will forever have that item as a memory from our trip! We brought crosses from home and used the sand on the beach as our mold (putting the cross in the sand and gently lifting out). We then poured the plaster right into the sand. It grew quite the crowd!
