You work hard for your money. So, whenever you purchase something, you want to make sure you are fully getting what you are paying for, right?
In a recent KFDM news report, it was said that there are a few gas stations in our area that are not in compliance with gas pump regulations. As a result, you may not be getting all the gas you pay for. The Texas Department of Agriculture is now publishing gas stations that have inaccurate fuel pumps according to their inspections. The list contains more than 100 fuel stations including one in Groves and one in Beaumont. To see the list, check out The Texas Department of Agriculture website.
What about other services? Take our beauty salons, for example. Say it costs roughly $30 to get a relaxing pedicure. When you spend that money you are A) expecting that your feet will be soft and pretty and B) expecting that you receiving safe treatment. Just over 1 week ago, two Beaumont salons were fined $10,000 each for sanitation violations, according to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations. In addition to their fines, the individual owners of Queen Nails on Phelan Blvd. and Regal Nails on Dowlen Rd., will complete a four-hour health and safety training course and will be subject to unannounced inspections during their two year probation. To read the complete report, visit the TDLR website.
As consumers, we trust our businesses that we are getting what we pay for. Generally speaking, you can probably count on quality service from businesses that require state inspections in order to be in operation. However, sometimes the inspections reveal less than quality service. It pays to do your homework! When seeking a good restaurant, beauty service, "repair man," or otherwise licensed professional, ask for referrals from friends. Good service is meant to be shared! When in doubt, check out our Great Wall of Recommendations. This page is filled with professionals that fellow residents say are the "best!"
