Re-branding Beaumont
We think Beaumont and her surrounding areas are great. We've built our business around that notion. But, there's always room for improvement, right? Our city leaders, Chamber of Commerce, and Beaumont Convention & Visitor's Bureau are coming together to help unify and glorify our city's image. Beaumontbuzz.com had the chance yesterday to meet with Steve, our city's consultant from North Star Destination Strategies (a firm hired to conduct opinion research and give creative suggestions for re-branding).
What do you think of when you think of Beaumont? Most people (residents and outsiders alike) say "oil, refineries, Lamar University, and good food." We were surprised to hear Steve say that many people associate Beaumont with shopping. Then, why oh why, do so many of you still go to Houston for jeans? We've got it!
The truest message that seemed to ring loudly amongst research participants is the fact that Southeast Texas is the "cajun Texas." We're the perfect mix of Texas and Louisiana.
So, what next for our great community? The Chamber, CVB, and city leaders will be meeting to plan a implementation strategy. Will you see a new logo? A twist to our current one is more likely. Will you see billboards all across IH-10? Possibly. New banners hanging on downtown lights? Maybe. Who knows? The possiblities are endless and we can't wait to be apart of it. Beaumont is already on the map.
Question is, what for?_____________ (P.S. You fill in the blank!)
