SETX was once not known for great shopping. However, in recent years, we have had some very unique shops pop up that you probably don’t even know about. Have you ever been shopping around town & wondered, “who owns this”? Did you know that the MAJORITY of boutiques in our area are women-owned? Occasionally you might find a husband/wife combo, but there’s always a good woman behind the thinking! Beaumontbuzz.com has a few fan favorites and over the next several weeks, we’ll be exploring those stores… how they came about, who owns them & how they can be of benefit to you.
 Belle Maman is a chic boutique specializing in maternity, nursing , baby apparel & accessories. Not only do they have the best mama-to-be fashion in town, but they also have a wide selection of nursing apparel & accessories (such as Hooter Hiders… you’ll have to go in the store and ask about that one!). The “Belles” as the girls there call themselves, can dress you head to ankle, (no toes, sorry, they don’t do shoes!) complete with jewelry & a purse. One of the most well-known aspects of Belle Maman is their unique baby gifts. The Belles scour the country & beyond for special gifts for both mom & baby that you cannot find anywhere else such as the custom photo pendant, Mommy & Me matching pearl bracelets, Trumpette baby socks, diaper wallets & the Nelle & Lizzy milestone rings. .
 How did Belle Maman start? Owner Krista Oliphant saw a need for fashionable maternity clothes in our area after being pregnant with her second son, Connor. She had to drive to Houston to find well-fitting, trendy clothing. So, to meet the need, Krista opened the boutique, by appointment only, in her home during the summer of 2004. One year later, she was faced with the dilemma of shutting her doors or opening a storefront. After prayerful consideration & the encouragement of family & friends, she opened the current Belle Maman location in the shopping center at the corner of Phelan Blvd. & Peyton in Beaumont (next to Sans Souci & Early Bird Café). Many Houston, Louisiana & California (yes, even from LA!) clients have said that this is the best maternity & baby shopping they’ve seen & it’s right at our back door. What makes this store owner unique is that she’s a mom just like many of you. She has three boys- Nathan (5), Connor (4) & Jackson (9 months). She and husband Chris are very active parents- teaching at church, coaching soccer, hosting playdates & playing dress-up every chance they get. Krista is a perfect example of following your dreams. She always wanted to own a store, but get this- she has no prior retail experience! Talk about jumping in with both feet. The doors of Belle Maman welcome you into an inviting, comfortable space that never makes you feel the pressure of buying or looking just right. They have a purpose; to make moms-to-be feel their best during pregnancy & to help new moms adjust to their sudden life-changing circumstances.
